FIRST POSTCARD!

Props and thanks to Stephanie Jill Freyer for sending the class our first postcard! I read it at the end of the day and some kids were honestly STUNNED that Mr. Moo receives mail...I can imagine the questions that will start pouring in tomorrow! In Social Studies, we are covering communities and, this week, MAPS! How perfect! I'm excited to point out that our first postcard is from across the Atlantic Ocean!

While I'm here....we're starting the ADDITION/SUBTRACTION unit next week. We're going to be reading a Henry and Mudge story, and then all about dogs, so we're writing about our "dream pets."

Keep 'em coming!

Kicking Off a New Year!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to Mr. Moo's Postcard Project site! It is my hope that this will help to make this year's Postcard Project even bigger and better than last year's!

Because of the extensive focus that is placed on the tested subjects in school, Social Studies seems to have taken a backseat. I'm hoping this "project" will help to bring Geography back into the picture! I'm writing to ask you (and forward it to people who might be able) to send postcards to me, this year's class, and, most importantly, our class mascot, Mr. Moo. It is my hope that this website will be a place to help the helpers. I hope to be able to write briefly about what's going on in class, so you are able to comment on it when you send a postcard in. Of course, you don't need to reference something specific that is going on in class, but I know that was something people had asked about last year. I was so happy and impressed with all the postcards my class received last year. This will also be the place where I can publically THANK you!

Mr. Moo and I have moved schools, and are now working with a second grade class at the address below. Just like the postcard project itself, this blog is a new work-in-progress, so check back to see what wacky things I choose to do with it this year!

Hope all is well with you, wherever in the country/world you may be! Happy and safe travels, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Lots of Love,

Darian
